The battle between the two Edo political titans, the incumbent governor Godwin Obaseki and the troubled APC chairman comrade Oshiomole, is never seeming to be over.
After the disqualification of the Governor from the APC primary election, Mr. Godwin has been meeting with some top PDP members, a move many saw as to pave way for his defection to the opposition party,
It then happen that after his visit with Mr. president yesterday, in a statement with news men, the Edo governor finally put to rest speculations and announced his finale goodbye from the APC
With the governor’s announcement, the Edo state’s Deputy Governor Philip Shuaibu was seen to have removed the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag in his office and declare for PDP.
The embattled APC chairman on the other hand is witnessing the rise of his seem to be forgotten case at the court of appeal.
In an unanimous judgment delivered June 16, a three-man panel of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Eunice Onyemanam, affirmed the order of Oshiomole’s suspension that was issued by the High Court Abuja on March 4, 2020.
Justice Onyemanam the presiding judge held that the FCT High Court had territorial jurisdiction to have entertained the suit as it did. The court in its ruling, withdrew Oshiomole’s rights and privileges as the National Chairman of the party including his security details.
According to the court, the suspension of Oshiomole from ward 10 of Etsako local government was ratified at the ward, local and state level as required by law and the identity of those who suspended him was not in doubt.
